Scenario 7: Supporting carer groups

Scenario takeaway

  • You share the same piece of content with multiple different clients and their carers, e.g. in a carer group meeting

  • When sharing with multiple people, you enter the name of the person as “loved one” and the carer as “the carer”, then enter all their emails and chosen pronoun.

Tasks to complete

  1. Think back to see if you can remember a situation where common questions have arisen with many carers, e.g. traveling and holidays, understanding dementia etc.?

  2. If so, you can organise a carer group meeting to support them

  3. You can still share pre-read for multiple people with the instruction below

Seniors Socializing

Scenario notes

Over the past few weeks, a few other clients and their carers have wanted to travel and plan for holidays with dementia. But they are not sure how to do it.

What would you do?

You decided to do a support session on this for 10 of your clients. You also decided to share some pre-reads, including the Sections on warning signs against further traveling, how to plan for a holiday, tips and suggestions on dementia friendly travel.

When sharing with multiple people, you enter the name of the person as “loved one” and the carer as “the carer”, then enter all their emails and choose a pronoun.

You may want to provide some hardcopy resources to discuss in the session. You can click here to learn more about printing from My Dementia Companion.

You can also view the seminar under the additional PRO information for pro on traveling to prepare your discussion with everyone.
