It has been 4 years since we started our ambitious passion project, My Dementia Companion. The project began as we were seeing too many families being overwhelmed, confused and lost in the dementia journey leading to significant distress, frustration and challenge for everyone.
Our dedication to create impact
Our volunteers’ social obligation led us to create something that had never been done before, to build the world’s first smart digital dementia guide. While working at our day jobs, and with the help of many generous supporters and volunteers, we launched the CARER tool which has helped thousands of carers and received industry recognition.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing volunteers and our supporters.
Why the change?
As a passion project, we wanted to keep the CARER tool free, so everyone could benefit. Over time, the tool has become very sophisticated, and this has resulted in increased demand for our volunteers (who will continue to work day and night on top of their day jobs to help), but also increased costs with the maintaining IT systems and developing new features required.
For us to be sustainable to support more people going forward, NEW users will be charged a small subscription fee.
Benefits of the change
This change means we can continue to maintain and improve My Dementia Companion CARER’s features, curate more resources and practical tips, keep all the content up-to-date, and continue to support more families in the future.
The very modest subscription fee for new users allows access to all features of My Dementia Companion CARER tool, including support through an individual’s dementia journey (early to late stages) with bite-sized, practical and personalised guidance, tips from other carers and more.

When will it change?
The CARER tool will be available with a 2 month free trial followed by an ongoing monthly subscription fee from 30 September 2022 for NEW users.
How much will it cost?
The CARER tool will cost $4.99/month (less than a cup of coffee)! Or receive 10% off an annual subscription at $53.90.
Don’t forget to check with your NDIS or My Aged Care provider to see how you can claim this on the plan and package.
What happens to existing users?
As a token for the ongoing support of all our existing users who supported us from the start, the CARER tool will remain free for existing users. We would like to thank you for your amazing support, and being a part of this journey
Why should I refer another carer to the CARER tool if it's no longer free?
Without a cure, navigating the dementia system and developing care strategies is the only way to live well with dementia. As dementia is so broad and complex, it touches on all aspects of life and often leaves families overwhelmed, confused and lost on what they need to do, where they need to go or figure out what they need to know.
