Content update

Based on our users’ generous feedback, we have continued to improve our content to better support you to navigate the dementia journey:

  • Added ‘Ambiguous loss and grief’ to the Section ‘Dealing with your feelings, e.g. guilt, grief, loss and bereavement’, including practical tips, suggestions and real-life case studies. Ambiguous loss occurs when the person is physically present but no longer the same in the way you once knew them—an important and often challenging feeling to understand and process.

Just in time for Easter, updated Section on ‘Family/ friend gatherings, holidays and special occasions’, including videos, tips and ideas to make these events more dementia-friendly. You’ll also find information you can share with guests to help them connect more meaningfully. If you're planning a gathering, we highly recommend exploring this section ahead of the long weekend.

These are short 10min toolboxes to cover a topic in our world-first comprehensive dementia journey, including a simple facilitators guide and handout.

Based on their needs, the topics we have covered so far includes remembering to use aids and equipment, repetition, recognising signs of dementia (a Strengthened Standard requirement) and Easter and Family Gatherings.

As a passion project to improve dementia care, we are offering 6-month’s worth of Dementia Toolboxes to 10 organisations currently not customers to help them improve care and meet the new Strengthened Standard needs on dementia (cognitive impairment). Just contact us - first in first served!

Featured quote

Instead of sharing a Carer Tip this month, we thought we would share a nice quote from our volunteers at My Dementia Companion, who work on top of their day jobs to improve care:

“Repetition in dementia is not about testing your patience - it’s their way of finding a sense of asking for help in a confusing world"

Don’t forget to review the Topic “Repetition and dementia” for more strategies and suggestions on managing this change in behaviour, including how to investigate unmet needs using PECT.
