Team: Nan Yu
Nan Yu is the founder and CEO of My Dementia Companion and is a passionate advocate for improving dementia care. He believes all people impacted by dementia deserve to be supported.

Contribution to the sector
Nan is passionate about health, aged and disability care, particularly dementia care. He was one of the co-authors of the National Framework for Action on Dementia in 2013 and generously contributes to the sector, including as a Board Member for Caladenia Dementia Care, LASA Next Gen Ambassador, frontline volunteering, and various pro bono mentoring and consulting services for a wide variety of non-for-profit organisations.
Inspiration for innovation
Through all the work, Nan realised how much the dementia sector and families looking after loved ones with dementia are starving for innovative support, particularly from talents outside the sector. This led him to create My Dementia Companion, the world’s first smart digital dementia platform for family carers and care professionals.
Through this journey and after winning numerous awards, Nan developed an aspiration to attract outside talents to the sector and inspire existing talents within the sector to innovate and challenge the status quo. This grassroot reform is a key way to tackle our workforce challenges to help us build a sustainable industry to support a society to age well.
Managing other responsibilities
Nan’s work in the dementia sector is in addition to a demanding full-time job in a global pharmaceutical company where he heads up commercial excellence, insights and analytics.
Prior to this, Nan has also worked as a management consultant and clinical pharmacist within the public health system. He holds a double degree in Pharmacy (H1 Honour) and Commerce from Monash University.
