Funding My Dementia Companion under the Home Care Package (HCP)

Updated: Sep 19

My Dementia Companion was designed to guide individuals through their dementia journey, helping them plan ahead (especially in the early stages), understand necessary steps, and learn reablement strategies to manage challenges at home.

This mission has always aligned with the objectives of Home Care. As a result, many Home Care Providers have funded My Dementia Companion through a person's Home Care Package (HCP), as part of their assessed needs and Care Plan.

However, some Care Managers were unsure of the process, and in some cases, families had to pay the modest fee out-of-pocket.

My Dementia Companion under the Home Care Package

After working for many months with the Department of Health and Aged Care, we are excited to have received clarification that My Dementia Companion can be funded through a client's Home Care Package (as part of My Aged Care), where it is part of their assessed needs and Care Plan.

We would like to thank the Dementia Branch and the Home Care Packages branch for this.

We have outlined the HCP process as part of our pricing page here. for carers and people living with dementia.

If you are a professional or care provider, you can view the process to get someone started here. Reimbursement under the NDIS is on the same page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
